Journal
This body of work uses found imagery as a way of trying to find connection to a Father figure within my life. While I am close to my Birth-Father, I found one of my professors to be a “father-away-from-home”. The loss of connection while I was away from home brought me to try and find someone as a guide in my early stages of young adult life. The images presented are film negatives I found around my school's city as well as images that were of my Father while he was younger in the Marine Corps. On top of the images are writings from my journal, having questions of my relationships with men. I find it hard to talk about my relationships with my own Father, but I’m comfortable with talking about them to my professor. I use an alternative process; more specifically kallitype, to expand the idea of how “the poor man's platinum print” can be connected with how I try and find a fatherly figure within my life while I’m away from my own Father.
