Earning a BFA in Photography & Video at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design
Sam is a fine art and conceptual photographer and filmmaker based in Maryland. Currently, they are fulfilling their BFA in Photography & Video (PCA&D) with a minor in Filmmaking and Art History at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, located in Lancaster, PA. Whilst interested in all photographic forms, Sam’s work consists primarily of self-portraiture and constructed imagery. Often drawn to the tensions between control and vulnerability that exist within the frame, they create works based on the ideas of identity, trauma, and the actions of the human body and mind.
Sam is a student leader representing the school's major and works for their school as a Photo Monitor. They help mix chemistry for darkroom developing and printing, making sure Epson and Canon printers are in top-notch shape, and testing equipment to make sure it is in good condition for renting. They take the time out of their busy day being a mentor for multiple students, reviewing and giving advice to their peers works. They take their free time to attend their peers classes, to help younger students find a friendly face to foster a collaborative and creative learning environment and assist with professors. Sam is also the Vice-President of PCA&D's Photography Club: "LUX," helping plan events for the club as well as help curate exhibitions held at their school.
Recently, Sam has had the opportunity to be part of the Red Rose International Film Festival’s Internship program and serve as an official jury member for the Best Student Film and Shorts selection. They have also had the opportunity to be selected in multiple shows such as the Living Image 2025/2026 juried exhibition held at The Halide Project in Philadelphia, PA and the 2025 Midwest Society of Photographic Education (MWSPE) Conference Student Exhibition at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI.
